Software I build and run myself

Alongside client work I build and sell my own software. Running a product means living with my own decisions: the migrations, the billing edge cases, and the day a customer's data turns out to be wrong.

Off The Clock

Staff leave and absence management for small companies. Deliberately not a full HR suite: it is for businesses that already have their accounting sorted and want something simple and cheap that tracks who is off and when.

  • Flat pricing with no tiers, because tiered pricing was one of the things that made every other system frustrating to live with
  • Free agent accounts for HR consultants and bookkeepers, who manage an unlimited number of client organisations from one login
  • Absence, approvals, team timelines and reporting today, with rota and overtime in build and designed to interact with leave
  • Subscription billing and transactional email handled end to end

Java Edition

Calculators for armour, weapons, potions and mob damage, built on modelled game data. A side project rather than something I sell.

The part worth mentioning is how the data stays right. A scheduled job re-scrapes the source wiki every week, compares it against committed snapshots and raises an issue when anything upstream has moved, with tests behind it covering each dataset and a completeness check across the lot.

Want something like this for your own business?

Most of my client work starts from the same place as this did: a job being done by hand, or by a system nobody likes. Tell me which one is yours.
